If you're like me, I love everything about trying different foods and drinks. I wouldn't call myself a food connoisseur but I am definitely a foodie at heart. I love trying just about anything.... well, maybe not everything, but close! I do draw some lines for my appetites sake.
Last summer at my nephews birthday party, I tried this pretty neat drink that I thought I would share with you. His grandparents are from South American and MAN can they cook! Being Hungarian myself, food has always been a big part of my family. From family gatherings or to stop by just to see my mom. My mom always had a plate of food ready for company. So when we go to my sister's in-laws for a party, game on! I really love the flare of South American cooking and I love everything that my brother-in-laws family makes. Typically there is your wine, beer and soft drinks but this particular day I found something else that peaked my interest. I was skeptical, and even went a step further not to ask what was in it. For my appetites sake of course. I was pretty surprised when I tried this drink, because afterwards I HAD to have the recipe. If you're adventurous and a person who enjoys a refreshing iced coffee mid-day, this is something for you to try next time you're in the mood for something different. Surprisingly easy, and great tasting too.
1 cup uncooked white long-grain rice
5 cups water
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2/3 cup white sugar
