With Spring closing in, (insert happy dance here), I can't wait for the warmer weather and getting reacquainted with my long lost love; Frederick MD. As many of you know, I had lived here many moons ago. Moving into the downtown area from city life was interesting being that I moved here when blue laws were still in place. It was certainly an eye opener and when I went walking downtown on a Sunday, I was always envisioning the potential and thinking, this is the place to be! Growing-up around cities most of my navy brat life (my hometown being DC) I often pictured Georgetown quaintness and festivities as I settled my roots here in this little town.
As the years went by, things evolved, beautification project emerged and so did my love of all things NEW & OLD! Many shops and restaurants for every taste and pallet came to fruition and I LOVED and frequented all whenever I could. So it's no surprise that 20-years later, (being a shop owner now), I'm happy to see everything has moved forward, bloomed and the downtown area has become this amazing mecca of sites, smells and senses- (and of course I am located next to a bakery, YUMMY)!
Each street you find yourself face to face with creatives....the dreamers: small boutiques and restaurants giving someone the choice to shop small, grow the community and gives everyone an avenue to enjoy delights that chain stores cannot offer anyone. Downtown Frederick is truly a delight and I'm so happy to be a part of what makes Frederick MD so great! Have a wonderful weekend everyone and remember WE SPRING FORWARD on Sunday!
