It's been a almost a year in the making, with a new life, and a new career. I was asked what I've gained and lost by taking this big step in my life. It's simple. Opening a new new business has its potential payoffs, rewards and of course some missteps along the way. To gain some perspective, here's a little glimpse into my past. It was a Friday morning, I remember sitting in my colleagues office - just a little over a year ago. We've known each other for years and were comfortable with chatting about just about anything from schedules, personal life etc. As we chatted, I noticed this book on her desk. I asked her what it was about and she smiled and told me that it was a book that she's read about a dozen times. Noting the comment, I saw that she had booked marked chapters with different colored sticky notes throughout her book. I was a little perplexed by her statement because thinking back, I've read dozens and dozens of business books in my lifetime and most were perfect reads right before bed... (YAWN). Don't get me wrong, I love to read but for those of you out there who read business books they can be a bit stagnant and dry. For me, I like a little excitement when I read a book!
So always being the curious type. I later went on online, found the book and had it delivered. I can certainly attest that it's not your average book and it's rather entertaining at times. Without giving too much away, the book is about how to deal with change in both work and your personal life. It gives you insight on how to move through situations and make the better choice. You can relate and apply many of the scenarios in this book even though oddly enough, it's about two mice and there ability to adapt and change for survival. I guess that really confirms the old analogy that life is one big rat race? Right? If you need a different perspective on life and have some free time, I really recommend this book. It's a quick read. Enjoy!
P.S. I too have read it about a dozen times, and have my pages book marked...
