I was going through some of my notebooks from the early 2000's (seems like yesterday) when I came across a few poems I had written. I was in college for the 2nd time, trying to find myself so to speak. I submitted it once for a competition but nothing materialized. It was a fun process and experience! I had also started writing a series of children's books and sketched some illustrations. I had no children at the time so perhaps subconsciously I must have known I would change career paths and have a family one day. So for today, I'm sharing one of my poems with you as it reminds me of warmer weather and sandy beaches as I clean the shop and see snow flurries outside my windows..... Enjoy~
Happiness lies here...
Night falls across the highest dunes
with endless shadows cast from waning moons
A warning of the sun's morning arrival
Hearing the crashes; life's ebbs and flows
drifting, velvet sand between my little toes
Beach grasses sway from left to right,
as the moon shines upon this lucid night . . .
Weightless, I lean against the blowing wind
as I hear the rolling tides calling from within
This is the ocean in it's beautiful delight.....
where endless sparkle, diamonds so bright
Happiness lies here.....
